Thrifty Valentine: Idea 2: Sugar Scrub

Remember the old adage, that it isn’t the present, it is the thought that counts…This is especially true at Valentine’s Day.…and dare I say, cheaper!  This project is so easy that both my 5 year old and my 6 year old could make too.

Here is my idea….remember those jars that we were getting of Dole Fruit….I SAVED THOSE!  I am filling those jars with a sugar scrub PERFECT for our dry arizona winters.   If you don’t have those jars…you can grab any pretty jar…or even a disposable plastic container (and decorate it).

Here is what you need:
Jar
About 1-1/2 cups of white sugar
About 1/2 cup of olive oil or coconut oil (best oils to moisturize your skin)
2-3 drops of essential oil (I chose Tea Tree, cuz it helps a miriad of skin issues)
Scrap fabric

Shop for New Fashions Daily at ROMWE.com

Clean the jar (easier said than done, I had to break out the goo gone!)
Fill with sugar 3/4 the way full.
Add all the oil and the essential oil(s)
Mix and fill the rest of the way with sugar
Finish mixing
Seal Jar and Top with scrap fabric.

Seriously, I am the least crafty person I know.  And I think it turned out well….what do you think?

Yes, you could add a pretty label or something…..  :-)

  1. I love making my own sugar scrubs, this one looks cute in that old peaches jar!

  2. I love this idea! I’ve been thinking of doing something like this for the ladies I work with. I think this would be great! Nice to meet another non-crafty person!
