Summertime and Super Secret Special Lemonade

Summertime is on its way, and that means it’s time to break out the lemons for my Super Secret Special Lemonade!  On its own, my Super Secret Special Lemonade is pretty amazing.  All natural, nothing artificial, and perfectly sweet is how we love it in our home.  But recently, I tried something different, and made it even more amazing: Berry Stars!

What’s a Berry Star and Why is it in the Super Secret Special Lemonade?

I received an awesome 5-pointed Star Silicone Cake Mold from WholePort that needed to be broken in with something, so Berry Stars it was!  Strawberries have been on sale recently, so I have been thinking up new ways to use them.  With a little bit of whirring in my little food processor and a dash of raw sugar, I had a beautiful strawberry puree.  I placed a blueberry in each cup of the mold, then filled it with the strawberry puree, before freezing for about 3 hours.  These little beauties made my lemonade taste amazing…sweet, tart, and berrylicious!  Better yet, they didn’t water down my lemonade like ice can!  It made sipping this summer favorite even more fun.

What Makes the Super Secret Special Lemonade So Special?

A simple ingredient takes this lemonade from your average, everyday lemonade to something special, and that’s a little bit of salt.  It doesn’t take much, but it helps sweeten the lemons and quench your thirst while replenishing your body from a good workout or being out in the sun.  It makes the lemonade a great all natural substitute for artificial sports drinks that are popular these days.  I started making Super Secret Special Lemonade for my kids when they were little, and always put it in their sports bottles for their summer activities.  When snacks are handed out at the end of the game or practice,  they always say no to the sports drinks that are always brought, and hold up their bottle saying, “No thank you.  I have Super Secret Special Lemonade!”
