FANTASTIC!  Beautiful! Amazing! There are so many words to describe the state of Arizona and its diverse landscapes.  Deep down in southern Arizona, just about 20 miles north of the Mexican boarder is a town called Amada.  In this tiny little town sits one of the best RV resorts we have ever been to.

Let’s face it, most of the time, we are just stopping at an RV campground to have a place to sleep for the night.  We are looking for a “crash pad” of sorts.  And in that case, amenities do not matter.  But there are those rare occasions where the RV campground can be the final destination.  This is exactly what DeAnza RV Resort was for us.

We only had 2 nights, and could have really found fun things to do for another 2 nights.  Having 2 young kids, 11 and 10, there needs to be a long list of fun things to do, or boredom sets in.  During our 2 night stay, we played pool, bocce ball, horseshoes, air hockey, shuffleboard and many other games.  Plus, we relaxed in the hot tub and swam in the indoor heated pool.  There was never a dull moment.  As a matter of fact, we ended up very sad that it was time for check-out already.

Some quick tips, if you plan to come to this area.  December 1st each year starts their high season.  They generally do not open their restaurant up until December 1st.  On Saturdays  from 4-5pm *starting in December* they serve complementary margaritas.  So, if you are planning a trip, give them a call ahead of time to be sure that you are coming at the right time to enjoy everything they have to offer.

Also, if you are planning to visit Mexico while you are in the area, allow at least 2 hours to cross the boarder back to the US.  Nogales would be your entry point and they are backed up every single day.  I spoke with several people while we waited in line and found that even during off-peak times, the wait is at least an hour.  Plan accordingly, and plan to enjoy fresh made tortillas in line.  They have several vendors.  At 75c per dozen, you can’t go wrong.

Enjoy and as always, Bon Voyage!
