Aerogarden 7 – Review & Giveaway (Check out the Garden Starter Tray!)

I have an Aerogarden Ultra and an Aerogarden 7.  I am kinda an Aerogarden Junkie!  I admit it!  I love having fresh herbs and lettuces available right in the house.  So, when I found out about the Garden Starter Tray, I asked to review it.  Since here in the Phoenix area, we can successfully have a winter garden as well as a summer garden, I decided to give it a shot starting my winter garden.

I mainly used it to start Mustard Greens and Broccoli.  I am happy to say with both of these, I had a 100% success rate.  They are both growing successfully in my garden now.  For comparison, I direct seed planted some of the Mustard Greens.  Here is how those looked at the same time I took the picture of the ones above:

You can see from the looks of the leaves and the stems, that the ones that were started in the Aerogarden Starter Tray are just much healthier and heartier.

Easily turn your AeroGarden ULTRA, EXTRA or AeroGarden 7 into the ultimate seed starting machine! Start up to 66 seedlings indoors with no dirt and no mess, then easily transplant them into your outdoor garden when weather allows. The AeroGarden nurtures your seeds with perfect amounts of water and nutrients, and provides plenty of light and warmth for reliable germination and healthy growth.

The AeroGarden Seed Starting System comes with biodegradable grow sponges that are ready for seed, liquid nutrients and a Seed Starting and Transplanting Guide.

So, if you have someone on your gift list that loves to garden, grab them the Aerogarden Starter Tray along with the Aerogarden 7 or Ultra so they can grow indoors and out.

Day 1 – 10/17/12 – I just put the Aerogarden together, added water, added nutrient (which came with the seed kit), put the Basil seed pods in the holes in the unit, placed the little green house covers on each seed pod and started the unit.

End of Day 3 – 10/20/12 – I can’t believe my eyes.  There are the cutest little Basil Sprouts.  Removing the covers from a couple of the pod.  Other pods are lagging behind…but it does say that it takes 6-12 days to sprout, so I am not worried.

Day 6 – We leave for vacation.  Will everything be ok?

Day 13 – Holy Basil Batman!  We have basil growing very well.  I am already harvesting a few leaves to top pizza.  Each pod is developing at it’s own pace.  There is one pod that is quite small, but it is hanging in there.  It is still nice and green, and growing.

Day 20 – Ok, here is the last update I have.  I am harvesting basil a LOT.  I have it for everything I need it for.  Plus my kitchen smells fresh like basil.  Just touching the plants a little is enough to make the entire kitchen smell WONDERFUL.

Ok, so now that I have told you how much I love my Aerogardens, I will tell you that you can pick them up for around $140 for the Aerogarden 7 and shipping is free. Aerogarden is so generously giving one lucky reader an Aerogarden 7!!!  For a chance to win, just enter on the Rafflecopter below. Disclosure:  I received a package with the seed starter tray, grow lights and seeds for review purposes.  I was under no obligation to post a positive review or to host a giveaway.  All opinions are my own.  a Rafflecopter giveaway
